Liverpool enter pole position to land Kylian Mbappe’s signature

Real Madrid’s reported failure to cough up the required finances to sign PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe might mean that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC now boast of the upper hand in landing the Frenchman’s signature.

Both European heavyweights have been long involved in the chase for the World Cup-winning forward ahead of this year’s summer transfer window amid talks of Mbappe keen to secure a move elsewhere after starring for Paris Saint-Germain over the past couple of years.

However, reports had suggested that the 22-year-old attacker favoured the idea of signing for Zinedine Zidane’s outfit in spite of Jurgen Klopp known to be a huge admirer of the former AS Monaco starlet’s supreme quality in the final third of the pitch.

But the La Liga giants’ plans of making a big-money move for the France international in the summer is set to suffer a major setback as the Mirror claims that Real Madrid’s inability to offload fringe first-teamer Vinicius Jr could spell out a lack of funds for Zidane to shell out on Mbappe’s signing.

With his deal running out in less than 18 months, the star forward’s future hangs in the balance at The Parc des Princes and the Reds would take solace in the recent turn of events favouring their cause for prioritising their long-term target’s arrival at Anfield.
