Liverpool are expected to fast-track their plans of signing Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes with Jurgen Klopp’s side failing to impress since the turn of the year, according to CaughtOffside.
The Portugal international was linked with a move to Anfield before signing for Wolves last summer as Liverpool chose to delay plans of signing a new midfielder for the squad ahead of the start of the 2022-23 campaign.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have been linked with a host of midfielders in recent months but the club’s long-standing target, Jude Bellingham, is not expected to be made available until the summer by his side Borussia Dortmund.
This could force Liverpool to bring forward their plans of signing the Brazil-born Portugal midfielder Nunes with the 24-year-old yet to thrive in his new surroundings in the Midlands since he left Sporting Lisbon to join Wolves.
Liverpool have three first-team midfield names – Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner out of contract at Anfield in the summer with Keita and Chamberlain tipped to move on as they head into free agency.
