Boruissa Dortmund central defender Manuel Akanji has attracted interest from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool FC, claim reports from The Express.
The Reds have been linked with a host of defensive names across the continent, including the likes of Brighton first-team regular Ben White, RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano, and Schalke starlet Ozan Kabak.
However, pricing concerns over each of these aforementioned players would lure Klopp to make a move for the 25-year-old Akanji, who has been a regular starter for Borussia Dortmund since the turn of the new season.
Dortmund’s displays this season have been uninspiring, to say the least, and the sacking of former boss Lucien Favre would do little to convince Akanji to extend his stay at the German outfit amid growing interest in landing his signature from the Merseyside Reds.
Liverpool FC remain injury-hit in the defensive core of the first-team ranks, and despite Virgil van Dijk’s positive progress over a potential season-ending injury layoff, Klopp is believed to be keen on adding fresh blood to his side come January.
