Liverpool Eye Brazilian Midfielder With £50m Release Clause

Liverpool are gearing up for a significant summer of changes, marked by the arrival of new manager Arne Slot at Anfield.

Slot, who replaces the long-serving Jurgen Klopp, aims to revitalize the squad with several new signings.

Liverpool is eyeing Dani Olmo, one of the key players for RB Leipzig. Olmo, 26, has a £50 million release clause in his deal and he may soon see this activated.

In Spain’s run to the Euro 2024 final against England, he has hit three goals and set up two more.

Last year, Olmo got eight goals and made five assists in all games for Leipzig.

Even with good performances, reports say a move to Liverpool seems not to happen soon.

Meanwhile, Fulham have resumed talks over signing Brazilian midfielder Andre, who has also been linked with Liverpool.

The Fluminense star is reportedly open to a transfer to Craven Cottage, with his club seeking between £22-25 million for the player.

Liverpool had shown strong interest in Andre last summer and again in January, but the midfielder chose to stay in Brazil at that time.

Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt has provided details about Liverpool’s interest in midfielder Andre, recounting his direct conversation with the Premier League club.

He explained, “The chief executive of Liverpool reached out to me personally.”

I told him, “We are not selling a player at this moment nor delivering one right now. If you’re interested in buying him for a January transfer, we can start discussions, or alternatively, we can talk in December.”

Andre

Bittencourt further clarified Fluminense’s rationale behind retaining Andre, emphasizing the club’s commitment to their sporting goals.

He stated, “While we received inquiries about Andre, there was no formal proposal.

Our decision not to sell was based on our belief that we could advance to the final stages of the Libertadores. This decision was driven by sporting considerations, as we prioritized our competitive ambitions over immediate financial gains.”

As Liverpool navigate this transitional period under Slot’s leadership, the pursuit of talented players like Olmo and Andre highlights the club’s ambition to strengthen its squad and compete at the highest level in the upcoming season.

As Liverpool navigate their transitional phase under Arne Slot, their pursuit of Dani Olmo and Andre demonstrates a clear strategy to bolster the midfield.
