Liverpool Eye Joshua Kimmich As Next Midfield Target

Liverpool is eyeing Bayern’s Joshua Kimmich for their midfield this summer, as per the Italian reports.

After Jurgen Klopp left Anfield at the end of 2023/24 season, head coach Arne Slot began a new era.

Some players will begin their pre-season training next week as they prepare for the new season.

So far, Liverpool have not brought in any new stars during this period.

Yet, talk keeps buzzing, with latest news linking them to one of the top players from Germany’s Euro team.

As per Tutto Juve, Liverpool are now eyeing Bayern Munich’s Kimmich, moving their focus from Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners.

They are gearing up to fight with Manchester City for the star from the Bundesliga.

Kimmich is now playing for Germany in Euro 2024 and took part in their 2-0 win against Denmark in the last 16.

Kai Havertz and Jamal Musiala scored to help them reach the quarter-finals.

Even with his performances for Germany, there’s much talk about his next steps at Bayern Munich.

Kimmich has been with Bayern for 9 years, playing as a midfielder or right-back.

But now he’s nearing the end of his deal.

Sky Sports Germany has said that Kimmich might leave Bayern soon.

It seems he does not want to sign a new deal past 2025.

To avoid losing him on a free transfer, Bayern are open to offers this summer, with Manchester City and Barcelona showing strong interest.

Liverpool has been eyeing many midfielders but said they’ll only go for a No. 6 if the perfect one shows up.

Last year, they added new players to their midfield, like Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch, taking the place Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.

This is Anfield shared that even though Liverpool put in a big offer for Moises Caicedo last summer, they aren’t likely to chase a new defensive midfielder in this transfer window.

They are looking for a player who would be a clear upgrade on their current options, including Endo, rather than a lateral addition.

Given the scarcity of world-class defensive midfielders and with Manchester City and Arsenal already possessing two of the best, it’s uncertain if Liverpool will find their ideal target in the upcoming months.
