Liverpool Eyes Alisson’s Brazil Teammate Amid Saudi Interest

Liverpool may face a major shakeup in their goalkeeping department this summer.

Reports indicate that the Saudi Pro League is preparing a substantial offer for Liverpool’s star goalkeeper, Alisson Becker.

This interest from Saudi Arabia has prompted Liverpool to start considering potential replacements.

One name that has surfaced is Bento, Alisson’s fellow Brazilian international and current goalkeeper for Athletico Paranaense.

According to teamTALK, a significant offer from Saudi Arabia is being lined up to tempt Alisson to the Middle East, a move that would create a substantial void at Liverpool.

Bento

While it seems unlikely that Alisson will leave Anfield at this point, the situation has put Liverpool on alert.

Liverpool’s backup goalie, Caoimhin Kelleher, wants more play time in main games. He’s done well when he’s had the chance but now looks to be the top goalie at a different team. His likely move means Liverpool needs to find a new goalie.

SportsZone says Liverpool is watching Bento, who has also caught the eye of big teams in Europe like Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, and AC Milan.

Bento, 24, has played over 100 league games for Athletico Paranaense and has played twice for Brazil. His top saves for both his club and country has made him a sought-after player for a move to Europe.

It’s unclear if Liverpool wants Bento to take Kelleher’s spot or to be Alisson’s future fill-in. With talks about Alisson maybe leaving and the team needing a solid second choice, Bento could serve well in both ways.

Alisson’s future at Liverpool has been a topic of speculation before. In March, his agent, Ze Mario, addressed rumors linking the goalkeeper with a return to his hometown club, Internacional. Mario dismissed these claims, stating there had been no contact and that a move was “impossible” at the time.

Alisson himself has expressed commitment to Liverpool, especially with the anticipated managerial changes at the club.

The Brazilian goalkeeper highlighted the significant challenges ahead with the new manager and emphasized his dedication to helping Liverpool navigate this period of transition. His statements indicate a strong likelihood of staying at Anfield for the foreseeable future.

However, with the Saudi Pro League’s aggressive pursuit of top talents, the situation remains fluid.

Liverpool’s proactive approach in monitoring potential replacements like Bento suggests they are prepared for any eventualities.

Whether it’s securing a new backup or finding a future first-choice keeper, Liverpool is taking steps to ensure their goalkeeping position remains strong.

Right now, it seems far-fetched that Alisson would move to Saudi Arabia. But the buzz around it has pushed Liverpool to look for a new goalkeeper.

Bento, known for his solid past performances and international game time, stands out as a strong pick for the Reds. He might fill the gap left by Kelleher or even take over from Alisson down the line.
