Liverpool face fresh competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea for signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz heading into the January transfer window.
Luiz’s name had emerged on the transfer radar at Anfield in the dying embers of the summer window when Liverpool went shopping for a late-window midfield signing to bolster an injury-hit engine room.
According to a report from the Spanish news outlet Fichajes, joining Liverpool in the chase for the Brazil international maestro are Chelsea who are on the hunt for reinforcements to add to their options in the centre of the park.
With speculation rife of late that Liverpool will not be keen to extend the loan spell of deadline day arrival Arthur Melo, Klopp and Co. are expected to turn to alternatives on their wishlist should they still want to sign a new midfield player.
Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham is said to be the priority on the transfer front for the Merseysiders but Liverpool are not the only European bigwig chasing the 19-year-old with Real Madrid and Manchester United too in the mix.
