Liverpool face Newcastle United challenge for Leeds midfield man Kalvin Phillips

Liverpool face a challenge from Newcastle United for securing Leeds midfield man Kalvin Phillips’s signature this coming summer transfer window.

The England international maestro has been one of the top players at Elland Road in recent seasons which has earned him the speculation of a big-ticket move to some of the biggest clubs across the land.

Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old but have new competition on the plate in the form of Newcastle United who are eyeing up the player on the back of their takeover by a Saudi group last year.

According to a report from The Daily Mail, it is claimed that the Magpies are the latest entrants in the mix for Phillips with the likes of Aston Villa and West Ham United also keeping close tabs on Phillips’ fast escalating situation with Leeds.

West Ham had a big-money bid turned down by the Leeds camp who were keen on retaining their star midfielder’s services heading into the business end of the campaign as the club fights to survive the drop to the Championship.
