The Reds have agreed to extend the stay of their loanee, Harry Wilson, at AFC Bournemouth until the end of the current Premier League campaign.
Wilson’s current loan agreement with Bournemouth was due to expire on 30th June.
However, with the suspended Premier League season set to resume from 17th June, adjustments would have had to be made in the expiring contracts of certain players in order to extend their stay the teams.
Bournemouth are currently in between a relegation battle with Watford, with Bournemouth positioned 18th in the Premier League table, level on points with Watford. However, the Cherries have a lower goal difference and as a result, are below Watford.
Bournemouth and Liverpool FC had previously discussed extending Wilson’s loan before the onset of the ongoing pandemic crisis. The player has been a fantastic addition to Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side and has been their standout performer this season which has been a lacklustre one for the Cherries.
Wilson has scored seven times in 23 Premier League appearances this season, and his striking ability has made him a fan-favourite at the Vitality Stadium.
Managing to extend Wilson’s loan deal at Bournemouth would be a significant boost for manager Eddie Howe ahead of the resumption of the Premier League. The player will be a vital part of Howe’s side as they seek to revive their fortunes in the Premier League by steering clear of the drop zone and escaping relegation.
Wilson is the second top scorer for the Cherries this season and would be looking forward to continuing his run of form when the Premier League resumes.
Bournemouth is set to face Crystal Palace at home on 20th June in their first league match since the Premier League was halted.
Wilson has only made one appearance for Liverpool FC during his five years at the club since graduating from the Reds academy. The sole appearance was made in a FA cup tie against Plymouth in 2017.
The 23-year old Welsh international has been regularly offloaded for loan spells by the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp with the player having had served his time playing for Hull City, Derby County and Bournemouth.
