Liverpool FC face tough battle to complete Thiago signing amid PSG links

Paris Saint-German have entered the fray to sign Liverpool FC target Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich this summer. The Spanish international’s future at the German club has been a source of much speculation in recent months. It is understood that the 29-year old midfielder is adamant about sealing a move elsewhere ahead of the start of the 2020-21 season.

According to previous reports, Liverpool FC remains the preferred destination for the Bayern Munich star. Moreover, Jurgen Klopp too is hopeful of securing the Spaniard’s transfer this summer. The Reds manager is a long-term admirer of Thiago’s playing style that he had witnessed in person during his reign as the Borussia Dortmund manager.

However, pricing concerns over signing Thiago remains the major hindrance in the Merseyside club making a move for the player. Despite being heavily linked with the 29-year old, Liverpool FC are reluctant to pay Bayern Munich’s asking price of €30 million. The Bundesliga champions had earlier demanded a fee worth €40 million to let Thiago leave this summer.

Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp has so far refused to give any further details about his club pursuing Thiago’s signing. The German coach asserted that he is unaware of whether Thiago could play for the Reds come next season.

‘Thiago Alcantara is a great player, but also a Bayern Munich player. That’s actually all there is to say. There’s nothing to say!’

With PSG having entered the race to sign the Bayern Munich midfielder, Liverpool FC are in for a tough battle. The Reds’ uncertainty to table a €30 million bid for Thiago stems from the fact that only a year remains on the 29-year old’s current deal with Bayern. Moreover, the Premier League champions are well stocked in the midfield department.

The Ligue 1 giants, however, have no qualms in meeting Bayern’s €30 million asking price for Thiago. The French club’s sporting director Leonardo is reportedly keen on paying the stipulated amount to seal a move for the Spanish international to Paris this summer.

It remains to be seen whether Thiago would actually end up making the move to Le Parc des Princes. The player is known to be very eager on playing in the Liverpool FC shirt under Jurgen Klopp next season. However, if the Merseyside club pulls out of the race to sign Thiago, he may well be on his way to the French capital.
