Liverpool gain grounds in attempts to sign Lyon wantaway star Houssem Aouar

Premier League heavyweight quartet Arsenal, Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have been given the nod to go ahead with a formal approach for Lyon’s in-demand midfield maestro Houssem Aouar.

The highly-rated Ligue 1 star has been linked with a move away from Lyon in this summer’s transfer window and Liverpool are amongst a host of big clubs who are line to table an offer for the player.

Reports from Calcio Mercato claim that owing to Lyon’s ever-increasing issues on the financial front, the French outfit are being forced to part ways with the 23-year-old Aouar who is now valued at just £25 million, half of his price-tag quoted by Lyon in the summer of 2020.

With Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on the hunt for a new midfield face in light of the departure of Gini Wijnaldum ahead of the upcoming campaign, Aouar is one of the names that has emerged on the transfer radar of the Merseysiders.

Liverpool, however, are in line to face a stern challenge posed by the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur with the North London duo eyeing up a move for the Lyon playmaker since the turn of the year.
