Liverpool given hefty price-tag to meet over Kalidou Koulibaly transfer

Liverpool FC would be quite taken aback with their rumoured pursuit of Senegalese defensive colossus Kalidou Koulibaly as reports from the Sun claim that Napoli have demanded a fee worth £100 million to part ways with the 29-year-old central defender.

Jurgen Klopp’s outfit have been long linked with a move for Koulibaly and the ongoing injury crisis for the Premier League holders had given birth to speculation that the Merseysiders will attempt to poach Koulibaly away from Italy in this January transfer window.

However, Napoli seem determined to hang onto the in-demand star centre-back as the Serie A club have issued a firm warning to Liverpool FC and Manchester United over their attempts to make a move for Koulibaly, with a £100 million price-tag being put on the defender’s head.

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is understood to be the driving force behind the Italian side’s reluctance to let go of Koulibaly under any circumstances this January as the Senegalese international’s exit from Diego Armando Maradona Stadium is believed to be a no-brainer by Laurentiis.

The recent series of events concerning Koulibaly’s asking fee is bound to force Klopp to turn to alternative options in the transfer market, with Ben White and Sven Botman the probable names on the boss’s shortlist.
