Liverpool were given hope in their pursuit of Aston Villa starlet Carney Chukwuemeka who was left out of Villa’s pre-season tour squad that jetted off to Australia.
The 18-year-old midfield talent has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League which include Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp eyed up a move for the highly-promising teenager this summer.
Chukwuemeka’s current terms at Villa Park are due to expire next summer and the youngster is yet to pen a new deal which has put his suitors on high alert over the possibility of making an approach before the next season gets underway.
According to a report from The Daily Express, Villa head coach Steven Gerrard admitted leaving out Chukwuemeka for the trip Down Under with the midfielder continuing to work on his training programme.
Jurgen Klopp has resisted the need to bring in a fresh face for his midfield ranks so far in this summer’s transfer window with the Liverpool boss insisting his roster was well-stocked heading into the start of the 2022-23 campaign.
