Liverpool were handed a major injury boost as midfield maestro Thiago Alcantara returned to training ahead of the midweek outing against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League.
A hamstring issue for the Spain international Thiago had forced him on the sidelines for nearly a month with his absence coming as a setback to Jurgen Klopp’s squad early on in the new season.
According to a report from The Liverpool Echo, it is understood that the 31-year-old midfielder took part in full training for Liverpool ahead of their Champions League group opener on Wednesday night in Naples.
Thiago was seen at the club’s AXA Training Centre on Monday and his return to the Liverpool fold in time for the Napoli clash could make him a contender to potentially grab a berth on the starting team sheet.
Liverpool’s injury stricken midfield ranks has also lost skipper Jordan Henderson to a hamstring niggle which is expected to keep him out of action for at least two weeks.
