Liverpool have made contact with Frenkie de Jong’s representatives

Liverpool are said to have made contact with Frenkie de Jong’s representatives with the Dutchman linked with a move away from Camp Nou in January.

Jurgen Klopp’s search for a new midfield singing to reinforce his under-fire squad has been well documented and recent rumours have suggested that the Reds head coach is looking at De Jong as a viable option to eye up a swoop for.

According to a report from ESPN, it is claimed that Liverpool could be seen pipping local rivals Chelsea and Manchester United to land the Barcelona midfielder after opening talks with his camp ahead of the winter transfer window.

De Jong’s future at Camp Nou beyond the coming months remains up in the air despite the Holland international maestro deciding to stay put last summer even as Barcelona had given their nod to his sale.

It was Manchester United back then who had agreed on a deal worth an initial €65 million which could have been increased to around €85 million including add-ons before De Jong chose to stall a switch to the Premier League.
