Liverpool held interest in signing Patrick Bamford this summer

Liverpool held a shock interest in signing Patrick Bamford this summer from Leeds United with Jurgen Klopp keeping close tabs on the striker who could have given his Anfield roster some much-needed cover in the front roles.

Klopp had been backed to use the transfer market to bring in fresh blood for his attacking department with the likes of Harry Wilson and Xherdan Shaqiri heading out the exit door and seal moves elsewhere.

The Reds boss, however, decided against signing a new forward player despite being linked with a host of star names across Europe, one of which is suggested to be Leeds United talisman Patrick Bamford.

Reports from Goal claim that Klopp is a huge admirer of Bamford’s talents in the final third of the pitch and pondered over making what would have been a shock swoop for the 28-year-old who recently earned his debut England callup.

Bamford was a revelation for Leeds in their promotional campaign last season in the Premier League with the forward netting 17 goals in 38 outings earning him rave plaudits.
