Jurgen Klopp remains adamant on making a move for the highly-rated Portugal U21 international Nuno Mendes, who has developed into a world-class talent since his breakthrough in the FC Porto first-team ranks.
According to reports from the A Bola, Mendes has caught the eye of Serie A duo AC Milan and Juventus as well, which has induced Klopp to act quickly on the transfer situation regarding the 18-year-old full-back.
With the teenage defensive starlet tied down to a long-term deal with FC Porto, one which runs until the summer of 2025, singing Mendes would not come at the cheap for the Premier League champions.
However, Klopp’s decision to go ahead with a potential big-money move for the player rests upon the incredible progress already made by the youngster in the senior squad of the Portuguese giants.
Despite adding Kostas Tsimikas to the first-team fold at Anfield this summer to provide some much-needed cover for Andy Robertson, Mendes is looked upon as a future first-team regular by Klopp and his addition to the fledging young guns in the Liverpool FC ranks would come as a major boost for the Reds.
