Liverpool join Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Bournemouth star Lloyd Kelly

According to Football Insider, Liverpool have entered the competition with Tottenham Hotspur to secure the signing of Bournemouth star Lloyd Kelly in the upcoming January transfer window.

Despite a challenging campaign last season, it was expected that the Reds would strengthen both their midfield and defense in the summer to compete effectively this season.

While they made significant additions to their midfield by acquiring four new players, they didn’t make any moves to bolster their defense.

Liverpool have been struggling defensively in the early stages of this season, struggling to keep clean sheets. As a result, the club is planning to address this issue in the coming year.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool are now looking to sign a new center-back in January, with Kelly identified as a prime target.

The defender is in the final year of his current contract, which could force the Cherries to consider letting him go in January to secure a transfer fee.

Therefore, the Merseyside club may have the opportunity to acquire him at a reduced cost in the next transfer window if they make a formal offer.

However, the report also mentions that Tottenham have a strong interest in signing Kelly, and Serie A giants AC Milan are also considering a move for the English defender.

As a result, Jurgen Klopp’s side is expected to face tough competition from its rivals in the pursuit of a deal for Kelly.

The 6ft 3in tall player is known for his versatility, primarily as a center-back but also capable of playing as a left-back.
