Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on AC Milan midfield man Ismael Bennacer whose future at San Siro hangs in the balance with some of Europe’s biggest clubs interested in his signature.
The Algeria international had been linked with a move to Anfield this summer before Jurgen Klopp asserted that he was not looking to bring in a fresh face despite the injury crisis in his midfield roster.
According to a report from Corriere dello Sport ( via The Liverpool Echo), it is claimed that AC Milan finds themselves in a tough spot over the increasing interest shown in the 24-year-old Bennacer from elsewhere.
Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders are one amongst several European heavyweights keen on moving in for Bennacer who is contracted to AC Milan until the summer of 2024 and is yet to agree upon a new long-term deal.
Milan are looking to tie him down to extended terms with the promise of a hike in wages with the Serie A giants hoping that a renewal for their star midfielder wards off the likes of Liverpool from chasing Bennacer in the market.
