Liverpool keeping tabs on Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa

Aston Villa first-teamer Ezri Konsa has caught Liverpool FC’s eye going into the summer and the Reds are pondering over making a formal approach for the young defender.

Jurgen Klopp’s outfit have been misfiring in their defensive efforts over the course of this top-flight season and injuries to key regulars at Anfield has affected the defending champions adversely.

Despite bringing in two players on deadline day in the form of Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies, Klopp is understood to be wanting to sign another centre-back in the summer to further bolster his options as Torino’s Gleison Bremer is linked with a switch to Anfield.

Reports from The Athletic suggest that Konsa’s impressive run of form in the Aston Villa colours has attracted interest from Liverpool FC, with the Reds on the hunt for additional reinforcements on the back of what has largely been a spree of uninspiring displays from the Liverpool FC backline in recent times.

Tottenham Hotspur also remain keen on the 23-year-old central defender who is the running to earn his maiden call-up to the England squad should his extended run of first-team involvement for Dean Smith’s Midlanders continue beyond the current turn of events.
