Liverpool leading the race to sign Sunderland’s teenage sensation Chris Rigg

Liverpool are said to be leading the race to sign Sunderland’s teenage sensation Chris Rigg who has drawn comparisons to the Reds skipper Jordan Henderson.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have long been on the hunt for new signings to bolster their engine room and it appears that 15-year-old Rigg has caught Liverpool’s eye amid speculation over his future in the Sunderland shirt.

According to a report from The Daily Express, it is claimed that Liverpool are the frontrunners to secure the signature of Rigg ahead of his other suitors in the market which includes the likes of Newcastle United and Everton.

Sunderland are desperate to retain the services of their teenage midfield talent but have concerns over the player’s desire to join a top-flight club with Rigg expected to snub the offer from Sunderland to renew his terms.

A knockdown asking price of £2.5 million is all it could take to land Rigg for Liverpool who will be hoping to fend off the increasing competition from elsewhere in the land and bring the England Under-17s international to Anfield.
