Former Liverpool winger Jimmy Carter has admitted that Leicester City’s James Maddison would be the perfect fit for Jurgen Klopp’s side in the summer transfer window.
Liverpool tasted Champions League success this season and Klopp brought the prestigious trophy back to Anfield for the record sixth time in the clubs history. However, despite their best ever season in the Premier League since the club was formed, Liverpool finished in second place on the League table, one solitary point behind Manchester City.
The one player that Liverpool is missing is a high-quality playmaker that can provide those killer passes in the final third for the attackers and also add a few goals from midfield. There are a few players floating around the top European clubs that would fit the bill but former Red Jimmy Carter has urged Liverpool to sign James Maddison from Leicester City.
The 22-year-old midfielder has been incredible for the Foxes since they snapped him up last season and Maddison has scored seven goals and notched up seven assists as well. His impressive displays have attracted interest from the top clubs in England including Manchester United and Carter believes that the England midfielder would be a perfect fit for Liverpool.
While speaking on the James Gray Show, the 53-year-old Carter advised Klopp to bid for Maddison as he would become a success story at Merseyside, “James Maddison seems like a perfect fit for Liverpool. “For me, if Liverpool were to get him, they’re talking about £70-75million. I would pay £100m to get James Maddison into the midfield at Liverpool, and he would be an instant success. He would be a remarkable player and acquisition for Liverpool FC. I would love to see James Maddison slot into that midfield.”
