Celtic’s 22-year old center-back Kristoffer Ajer has caught the eye of Liverpool FC who may make an approach for the defender this summer, according to reports.
The Reds are in the transfer market for a quality option at center-back to replace the departure of Dejan Lovren. The Croatian international signed for Russian giants Zenit last month, leaving only Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, and Joel Matip as the only senior first-team options in the central defender role at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal.
Rumors suggest that Klopp is on the lookout for Lovren’s replacement with the 2020-21 Premier League season set to get underway in nearly three weeks’ time. The Reds boss is hopeful of adding another singing to his title-winning squad to ensure adequate squad depth going into next season, where Liverpool FC will compete in as many as five competitions.
Ajer is believed to be valued at around £20 million by the Scottish champions Celtic. The Norwegian international has been key to the club’s domestic success this past season and is highly-rated by Celtic manager Neil Lennon.
