According to reports from Fichajes, Real Betis centre-back Aissa Mandi could again be on Liverpool FC’s transfer radar as the Merseyside Reds seek cover for the long-term injury absence of Virgil van Dijk.
The Algerian international was one of the main defensive targets this summer for Jurgen Klopp’s side, but the Reds had not followed up with a concrete approach for the 29-year-old, as Klopp chose to rely upon the availability of Fabinho as a makeshift central defender.
However, with the Brazillian international sustaining a hamstring blow in the early stages of the ongoing season, Liverpool FC will be forced to head into the winter transfer window on the lookout for additional reinforcements required at the back.
Mandi’s current deal with Betis expires in less than two years, and Liverpool FC will be hopeful of agreeing upon a cut-price deal with the La Liga outfit in January, reports suggest.
A host of centre-back names have been linked with a move to Anfield, and it would become interesting heading into January as to which option does Jurgen Klopp go ahead with to fortify his injury-depleted squad line.
