Liverpool are understood to have made efforts to sign Real Madrid winger Rodrygo last summer but to no avail with the winger opting to stay put in the Spanish capital.
Rodrygo was a star performer for Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid across the 2021-22 season and the Brazilian forward was in the side that emerged winners over Liverpool in the final of the Champions League last term.
The 21-year-old, however, was offered the opportunity to make the move to Anfield in the summer of 2021, according to a report from the Spanish news outlet Defensa Central, with the Reds keen on moving in for the promising youngster.
Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders were joined by Newcastle United in the chase for the Real Madrid starlet who conveyed to his agent that he was ‘not interested’ in making the move to England’s top flight.
Klopp has brought Benfica dangerman Darwin Nunez, following his 34-goal show last season, to Anfield this summer with the 22-year-old backed to step up in wake of Sadio Mane’s departure from the fold.
