Liverpool maintain interest in Bayern Munich’s David Alaba

The Reds have not completely given up hopes of landing the much-coveted signature of David Alaba, according to Fabrizio Romano, despite the Austrian international reportedly set to finalise a move to Real Madrid.

Alaba’s current deal with Bayern Munich comes to a close in the summer and reports since long have suggested that the defender has been keen on signing for Zinedine Zidane’s Madrid outfit ahead of Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC.

Jurgen Klopp had been believed to be wanting to bring the Bundesliga star to Merseyside on a free transfer this summer but Alaba’s eagerness on moving to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium has been well documented in recent times.

Romano, however, has claimed in his column for Benchwarmers that Klopp and Co. are still pursuing Alaba with much interest leading up to the summer and that the 28-year-old could well be seen in the Liverpool FC colours next season.

Liverpool FC’s top-four challengers in the Premier League, Chelsea, have also registered their interest in the Bayern Munich first-teamer as new coach Thomas Tuchel looks to add further defensive reinforcements to his ranks at Stamford Bridge.
