Liverpool maintain a long-standing interest in signing Watford attacker Ismaila Sarr but a move for the player this summer looks unlikely, according to the Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.
In his column for CaughtOffside, Romano has claimed that Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders do not consider Sarr as a priority target in the transfer market and have never opened talks with Watford for his signature.
Jurgen Klopp parted ways with his long-serving attacking mainstay Sadio Mane, Sarr’s teammate in the Senegal national team, earlier this summer as he brought in Benfica dangerman Darwin Nunez in a club record transfer.
Nunez’s arrival at Anfield provides Klopp with the much-needed goalscoring threat in front of the goal with the Liverpool fan favourite Roberto Firmino failing to hit the ground running in a consistent manner.
Moreover, Diogo Jota’s injury during the club’s pre-season tour, which has sidelined the Portuguese international from Liverpool’s opening fixtures of the new season, has played spoilsport to Liverpool’s depth in the attacking roles.
