Liverpool are said to be making encouraging progress in their long-standing efforts to sign Borussia Dortmund talent Jude Bellingham, according to a report from Football Insider.
Dortmund appear unlikely to budge on their stance to retain Bellingham beyond this summer but Liverpool have set plans in motion to launch talks for bringing the England international to Anfield come 2023.
Bellingham is believed to be a priority on the transfer front for the Reds head coach Jurgen Klopp who wants to reinforce his midfield ranks and is prepared to delay any new signing until next summer with his sights on Bellingham’s signature.
The 19-year-old has been a star turn for both club and country over the past year and his showings have earned him attention from some of Europe’s biggest club in Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City.
City’s capture of Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips this summer could signal their waning interest in Bellingham but Real Madrid are sure to give tough competition to Klopp’s pursuit of the Dortmund sensation.
