Jurgen Klopp could be set to sanction his first purchase of the forthcoming summer transfer window as the Liverpool FC boss nears the completion of a deal involving RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate.
The Frenchman has been long linked with a move to Anfield and with the Merseyside Reds keen on bolstering their defensive ranks, the Leipzig man emerged as a top target for Klopp.
According to the latest set of reports from The Athletic, Liverpool FC are on the verge of finalising their prolonged approach for the 21-year-old central defender with a rumoured fee of  £40 million doing the rounds of late.
Having lost the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez to season-ending injuries earlier this season, it is believed that Jurgen Klopp is pushing for additional fortifications ahead of the 2021-22 campaign for the Anfield outfit.
It is claimed that Liverpool FC would choose to activate Konate’s release clause rather than get involved in a bidding war with a number of other European heavyweights keen on signing the Bundesliga talent.
