Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has slammed out at the international breaks ahead of his side hosting Arsenal on Saturday in league football.
The recent break was not smooth sailing for the Anfield camp who have had their troubles mount on the injury front with the likes of Jordan Henderson, Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson picking up knocks.
In the build-up to the home outing against The Gunners, Klopp aimed a dig at international breaks in his pre-match presser with the German admitting he did not like them for the increase in pressure on the players involved.
“Nope [it’s not a good time]…I hate international breaks.”
“And it didn’t help from an injury point of view.
“So, put it like this, if we would’ve played the week after, not again three days later, our players, for sure all the players who did not play, would’ve had two days off, with the national teams.
“They have trained through all this because coaches want to have their own targets and then they often think they have psychical work with the players.
“No. I don’t like it.”
The Reds will be backed for a return to winning ways come Saturday on the back of a drop in standards from Jurgen Klopp’s men who enjoyed a tremendous start to the new season.
Jordan Henderson and Co. are winless in the last two league games and suffered a first defeat of the season prior to the recent break against West Ham United.
