Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is set to leave this summer on a free transfer with his current contract due to expire at the end of the season.
Keita was Liverpool’s fourth biggest signing when he made the move to Anfield from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2018 and expectations were high for the Guinea international who was given the iconic No.8 jersey previously worn by Steven Gerrard.
According to a report from Goal’s Neil Jones, it is claimed that the Reds are in line to lose Keita as he heads into free agency later this year with there being little hope of a contract extension being agreed upon between the club and the player.
The former Leipzig man, who turned 28 recently, has struggled with recurring injury troubles in his five year spell on Merseyside and it appears that he will be one of the big money signings made by Jurgen Klopp that never worked out for Liverpool.
Keita’s departure from the Anfield fold looking imminent, Klopp could back himself into moving in for long standing target Jude Bellingham who is all but certain to head out the exit door at Borussia Dortmund over the summer.
