The Reds’ talisman Mohamed Salah has revealed that he had always dreamed of playing for Premier League giants Liverpool when he was a kid.
When Liverpool paid £36.9 million to AS Roma for the services of star winger Mohamed Salah last summer, there were a few doubts over the attacker’s ability and whether he could cope in the nature of the Premier League. Having previously had a difficult time adapting to the Premiership at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea, Salah was not really tipped to be a success at Liverpool.
But the Egyptian star tore apart record books at Anfield during his debut season for the club as he notched up 44 goals across all competitions for the Merseyside outfit and also helped them reach the Champions League final. Having proved everyone wrong and still doing so, Salah has revealed that he used to dream of playing for Liverpool even when he was a little kid playing video games with the European giants.
In an interview recently with Liverpool’s official website, Salah was quoted saying that he had always wanted to play for the English giants Liverpool while growing up, “It’s a big, big, big club and everyone knows it. It’s famous all over the world – and with a lot of supporters in the Middle East, so I think I first heard of Liverpool when I was 10 or 11, something like that”
The 26-year-old also explained that on his PlayStation he would usually pick Liverpool over most of the other teams, “The story of me playing as them on my PlayStation is true; sometimes it was as other teams, but most of the time I was Liverpool. Back then, I could never have imagined I’d be here one day, but it was always a dream of mine and you have to try and follow them.”
Salah will be hoping to continue his good run of form that he is going through at the moment. The Liverpool attacker has four goals in his last three games and his side will need him firing on all cylinders against Arsenal at the weekend. Also, with Salah stating that his dream was to play for Liverpool should be able to keep Real Madrid away for a while.
