Liverpool not expected to allow wantaway midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to leave

Liverpool are not expected to allow wantaway midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to leave this summer despite many clubs eyeing up the player’s signature.

According to a report from The Daily Mirror, there is speculation that the Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was left impressed by the England international’s attitude during Naby Keita’s departure from the fold to play in the AFCON.

Chamberlain was tipped to call it quits on Merseyside in this summer’s transfer window following his fall down the pecking order at Anfield over the last couple of seasons with the midfielder making just 17 appearances across the 21-22 campaign.

Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa had been credited with an interest in the former Arsenal man but it looks likely that he would be retained beyond the summer by Klopp who wishes to overhaul his midfield roster next year.

The 28-year-old had signed for Klopp’s side four summers back in a £35 million deal but has seen his Anfield stint hampered with injury troubles due to which he has found it hard to cement a regular spot in the first XI.
