Liverpool not planning to offload Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer

Liverpool are not planning to offload Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer in a complete U-turn on Jurgen Klopp’s decision to cash in on the midfielder.

There was speculation that Klopp was open to the idea of parting ways with Chamberlain before the next season kicked off but with no further signings expected at Anfield, the former Arsenal man could be retained beyond the transfer window.

West Ham and Aston Villa had been credited with a strong interest in moving in for the midfield man who has failed to earn regular first-team opportunities in the Liverpool shirt over the past couple of years.

According to The Daily Express, Liverpool are in line to keep hold of Chamberlain as it is understood that the player is currently in Thailand with the rest of the squad, gearing up for the pre-season tour which begins on Tuesday.

Chamberlain is understood to be likely to mull over any offers that arrive this summer with the 28-year-old hoping to secure game time away from Merseyside should the need arise.
