As reported by the club, Liverpool has officially completed the signing of Alexis Mac Allister, securing the Brighton midfielder on a five-year contract.
The Reds activated the bargain release clause to bring the Argentine midfielder to Anfield, making him Jurgen Klopp’s first key signing of the summer.
Mac Allister has been assigned the prestigious number ten shirt at Liverpool, previously worn by Sadio Mane before his departure to Bayern Munich last year.
The arrival of Mac Allister has generated excitement not only among Liverpool supporters but also among the club’s management.
Jurgen Klopp expressed his delight at securing the services of the Argentine star, emphasizing his satisfaction with the addition of a World Cup winner to the team. While talking to the club’s official website, the manager said:
“We are adding a very talented, very smart, very technically skilled boy to our squad and this is super news, really it is. I do not think the football world needs me to say too much about Alexis’ qualities because they are already pretty well known but it is clear that he is someone who can play in a number of positions in the midfield and is an all-rounder, I would say. He is calm and composed and someone with proper game intelligence.”

Mac Allister played a significant role in Brighton’s success, featuring in 112 matches and scoring 20 goals. His contributions helped elevate the South Coast club’s performances this season and seal Europa League football next season.
At the age of 24 and with 160 first-team appearances under his belt, Mac Allister perfectly aligns with Liverpool’s criteria for a desirable transfer target.

This move echoes the signings of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Diogo Jota, who were also young and experienced when joining the Merseyside club.
The midfielder’s determination to establish himself as a top player, both at club and international level, coupled with his versatility across midfield positions and tactical astuteness, made him an appealing prospect for Liverpool.
Alexis Mac Allister garnered significant attention from various clubs following his impressive performances in the World Cup.
However, Liverpool acted swiftly to secure his signature, recognizing his growing importance within the world champions’ squad.

Former sporting director Julian Ward, who has since been replaced by Jörg Schmadtke, played a pivotal role in orchestrating the deal.
The smooth and efficient execution of the transfer was facilitated by the longstanding relationship between Liverpool and Mac Allister’s agent, Juan Gemelli. The agent was previously involved in bringing Philippe Coutinho to the club from Inter Milan in 2013.
