Liverpool are understood to have opened talks with Ajax over a move for wide player Antony who is one of the most coveted names this summer in the transfer market.
Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have been busy in the summer window, bringing in the likes of Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay, with Nunez expected to step up as the replacement for the outgoing Sadio Mane.
The Liverpool camp, however, continues to be linked with an attacking player in the Brazilian winger Antony, according to a claim from Yahoo Esportes, which suggests a contest with arch rivals Manchester United on the transfer front.
Liverpool’s strong interest in moving in for the Ajax star forward will come as a surprise to many considering Klopp is well-stocked in his forward roster despite Mane, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino heading out the exit door.
Fabio Carvalho has been signed from Fulham after the teenager’s impressive campaign last term at Craven Cottage and his arrival will provide Klopp with another viable option in the attacking roles.
