According to a report from the transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have been informed of Kone’s price tag – €35/40 million – with Monchengladbach willing to part ways with the Frenchman for that asking price.
Liverpool’s new sporting director Jorg Schmadtke is believed to be steering the negotiations with Monchengladbach over bringing Kone to Anfield this summer as a part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans to rebuild his squad before the next season gets underway.
The Reds finished fifth in the Premier League this season and will not play in the Champions League next term but that is not expected to play spoilsport to their ambitions of signing big name players with Kone and Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister on Klopp’s wish list.
