Virgil van Dijk is first in line to be rewarded with a much-improved deal by the Premier League holders Liverpool FC ahead of star forward Mohammad Salah, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
Salah’s long-term future at the Anfield outfit has been subject to a great deal of uncertainty in recent times following speculation that the former AS Roma man is keen on securing a move to Spanish top-flight football as FC Barcelona and Real Madrid look set to battle it out for the 28-year-old attacker.
However, despite earlier reports of Jurgen Klopp pushing for an improved contract offer to be tabled in front of Salah, Van Dijk remains central to the Merseyside giants’ plans of tying their first-team regulars to an extended stay.
Van Dijk’s influence on the Liverpool FC teamsheet has been colossal, to say the least, with the Holland international central defender’s arrival at Anfield three years ago setting the stage for Klopp’s men to achieve Champions League and Premier League glory in successive seasons the year after.
