Reinforcements are finally on the way to Merseyside in wake of the injury crisis currently underway at Anfield as Liverpool FC are reported to be on the verge of concluding a deal for Preston centre-back Ben Davies.
According to the Daily Mail, a fee worth £2 million is being forked out by Jurgen Klopp’s outfit to land the signing of the in-demand Davies, who has been subject to much interest in the January transfer window from Scottish side Celtic.
Liverpool FC’s need to add to their injury-hit defence was supplemented ever further last week following the 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspurs, with Joel Matip being withdrawn at the half-time whistle in North London due to an ankle issue.
The 25-year-old Davies has been a first-team regular for Preston this season and Klopp is understood to be hoping for the defender’s immediate impact in the Liverpool FC colours as the Merseysiders seek to retain their Premier League crown.
