Liverpool are ready to make a £42 million bid for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo with Jurgen Klopp eyeing up late-window reinforcements to bolster his midfield ranks.
The Ecuador midfielder has been an in-demand name in this summer’s transfer window and the Brighton head coach Graham Potter has asserted that only a big-money offer would be enough for the player to leave the Amex.
According to a report from The Sun, however, Liverpool have shown interest in testing Brighton’s resolve with the Anfield camp prepared to fork out £42 million to bring in Caicedo in the final days of the transfer window.
With September 1’s deadline looming large on the Liverpool recruitment team, it remains to be seen whether Brighton play hardball over talks with the Reds for the 20-year-old Caicedo’s transfer.
An injury crisis at Liverpool just four games into the new season, which has sidelined the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita, has forced Jurgen Klopp to scout the market for a much-needed new signing to freshen his squad.
