Liverpool are reportedly ready to trigger Manuel Ugarte’s £60 million release clause with the competition to sign the midfielder heating up.
The Sporting Lisbon and Uruguay maestro has courted interest from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain too ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window when the 22-year-old is all but certain to be on the move.
According to a report from the French outlet Le Parisien, it is claimed that the Reds are prepared to match the £60 million release clause in Ugarte’s terms with Sporting but face a challenge from PSG in walking away with the coveted transfer.
The Ligue 1 giants are increasingly keen on Ugarte to bolster their options in the centre of the park which is a priority for Jurgen Klopp too with the Reds boss out to rebuild his squad in time for the start of the next season.
Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Chelsea are also not too far behind in the chase for the 22-year-old midfielder who has grown into one of the most exciting talents across Europe.
