Liverpool are appearing reluctant to give up on their pursuit of Brighton’s Moises Caicedo despite the midfielder’s heart set on a move to Chelsea.
The Reds were considered as the frontrunners for the 21-year-old Premier League talent’s signature with Jurgen Klopp’s side agreeing upon a British transfer record fee with Brighton to sign Caicedo earlier this week.
Klopp too confirmed the speculation that Liverpool were closing in on bringing Caicedo to Anfield before the player’s camp made it clear that Chelsea, who have been keeping tabs on Caicedo all summer, remained his preferred destination.
According to a report from The Daily Mirror, it is claimed that the Anfield camp are set to hold out to see the outcome of Chelsea’s efforts to sign Caicedo for an eyewatering £110 million fee on top of £800 million Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has spent this year.
Liverpool will be hoping that Fair Play rules could restrict Chelsea on landing Caicedo which could allow them the green light to re-launch their bid for the Seagulls star with an agreement already in place with the south coast outfit.
