Liverpool reportedly lining up club legend Steven Gerrard as Klopp’s heir

Merseyside icon Steven Gerrard is being lined up as the successor to Jurgen Klopp to the top job at Anfield, claims recent reports from the Daily Mail, as speculation rises over the latter continuing in his present role beyond this summer.

Klopp has been long tipped to depart the Premier League holders come the end of the ongoing campaign amid his team’s faltering title-defence and rumours linking the former Dortmund gaffer to the German national team.

Gerrard’s impressive resume in the managerial post has largely been attributed to his Rangers outfit being unrivalled across Scottish top-flight football this season and the ex-England midfielder looks all set to steer his side to the league title.

The former Liverpool FC skipper has time and again been quizzed upon his long-term plans in the Rangers job, with many believing that the 40-year-old has his heart set on returning to Anfield in the very near future, this time as the Reds’ manager.

Despite Klopp rubbishing claims of his nearing the exit door at Liverpool FC, reports suggest that the under-fire German national team boss Joachim Low’s days are numbered and that the Die Mannschaft will look to make an approach for the Liverpool FC manager should Low’s men fail to meet expectations in this summer’s UEFA Euros.
