Liverpool Set Sights On Brighton’s Pascal Gross

According to the latest reports and transfer expert Duncan Castles of the Express, Liverpool is targeting Brighton superstar Pascal Gross in the winter transfer window.

Liverpool has a tendency of purchasing promising young players and then selling them for a massive price tag when those star player’s peak.

Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso, Fernando Torres, and Raul Meireles are just a few of those examples from the past but off-late the Merseyside club has made a massive profit from the sales of Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez.

The two South Americans moved to Barcelona and Liverpool made a profit of around £187 million from Coutinho (£142 million) last January and Suarez (£75 million) in 2014. Virgil Van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Fabinho, Naby Keita and Xherdan Shaqiri were some big names that Liverpool recruited over the past two transfer windows as the Reds are sitting at top of the Premier League table.

But Duncan Castles, who is an expert at transfer deals, has revealed that Brighton’s assist king Pascal Gross is one of Liverpool’s prime targets in the winter transfer window. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be considering a move for the German, who is valued at around £15 million.

Liverpool missed out on prime target Nabil Fekir as the Frenchman’s move to Anfield was stalled after a failed medical. But Klopp is now looking for alternatives and Gross fits the bill perfectly and could come at a cheaper price as well.

Gross was Brighton’s player of the season last term when the 27-year-old notched up seven goals and a further eight assists. The German manager spoke highly of Gross last season when Klopp faced Gross in the Bundesliga during his time with Borussia Dortmund, “He has a nice right foot and is good at set-pieces. He is a smart player and I like him.”

Liverpool already has quite a variety in the midfield zone and probably need to assure up their defense some more if some key players get injured during this important phase of the season.  However, Gross could be a fine addition to Liverpool’s already ferocious attack.
