Despite reportedly cooling down their interest in making a move for Watford attacker Ismaila Sarr this summer, Liverpool FC remain the frontrunners to sign the Senegalese international in January.
The 22-year old Sarr, Reds’ star-forward Sadio Mane’s national teammate, enjoyed a superb first season with Watford despite the Hornets being relegated at the end of the 2019-20 Premier League campaign.
Many feel that upon the winger signing for the Reds in the near future, he would develop into a much brighter talent on the pitch, similar to the evolution of Sadio Mane into a world-class attacker after his arrival at Anfield from Southampton back in 2016.
Sarr’s £40 million price-tag was believed to be the sticking point between the two English clubs over agreeing on a potential transfer deal ahead of the 2020-21 season. The Anfield giants have made it known that they do not have the ability to pull off a big-money signing this summer in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic causing huge distress over the club’s finances.
However, sources close to Liverpool FC indicate that Klopp will be in the market for the Watford attacker sooner rather than later, with the German being keen on adding a player of Sarr’s caliber to his squad over the course of the season.
