Liverpool set to open contract extension talks with Fabinho

Liverpool FC remain very eager to offer new terms to Fabinho, who has been one of the best players in Jurgen Klopp’s ranks at Anfield this season, reports from the Daily Mail suggest.

With the Brazillian international’s current deal running until 2023, the Merseyside Reds are keen on extending his stay at the club beyond the upcoming summers amid reported interest in the player from abroad.

Injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez has meant that Klopp has been forced to draft Fabinho in the centre-back role since the turn of the new season, with the player garnering applauds for his showings in a rather unusual position on the pitch for him.

It is understood that Liverpool FC would offer Fabinho a lucrative wage bump in order to secure his stay at Anfield until the summer of 2026, with the 27-year-old now viewed as an integral first-team regular for the Premier League holders.

The summer arrivals of Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota have done little to Fabinho’s position in the Reds pecking order, following the Brazillian’s impressive run of form which continues to make him critical to every Liverpool FC XI week in and week out.
