Liverpool are reportedly set to open contract talks with star forward Sadio Mane whose current terms on Merseyside expire in the summer of 2023.
Mane has been one of the top performers under Jurgen Klopp’s charge at Anfield since the Senegal international made the move to the Liverpool camp from Southampton four years back.
The Reds are understood to be looking to swiftly progress on the contract extension front with Mane and his strike partner Mohamed Salah with both players out of contract at the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
Salah’s future has been subject to much speculation in recent times with the Egypt international demanding a major hike in his wages to renew his deal with Jurgen Klopp’s Merseysiders as Real Madrid keep close tabs on his contract situation.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, in his exclusive column for BenchWarmers, has backed Liverpool to commence negotiations with Mane and his representatives sooner rather than later with Klopp pushing for the Liverpool board to tie down the ex-Saints man to a long-term deal.
“Liverpool, on the other hand, is also thinking about Sadio Mane’s contract, as well as Mo Salah’s.”
“In 2022 there will also be a dialogue with Mane’s agent because the African’s deal is expiring in June 2023 – another urgent situation.”
