Liverpool set to table opening bid for Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga

Liverpool are said to be in line to table an opening bid for Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga with the Reds looking to bolster their engine room before the next season gets underway.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have lost midfield stalwarts Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia over the last week and the Liverpool manager could be forced to dip into the transfer market for a fresh pair of legs soon.

According to a report from Deportes COPE Galicia, it is claimed that the Merseyside outfit are keeping tabs on the La Liga talent Veig with a £21.5 million bid on the table – way below the £34.4 million release clause in the Cetla player’s terms.

It is understood that the Anfield camp are hoping to strike up a cut price deal by loaning him back to the La Liga outfit for the 2023-24 season which could lure Celta into accepting the offer from the Premier League bigwigs.

The Spanish club’s president Carlos Mourino, however, has made it clear that he does not intend to part ways with the promising talent this summer unless his release clause is met.
