Liverpool showing interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen star Exequiel Palacios

According to a report from The Athletic, Liverpool have shown interest in Bayer Leverkusen’s Exequiel Palacios during this summer transfer window.

However, the club has been informed that Palacios is not available for sale. Additionally, Manchester United are also reportedly interested in the Argentine international.

Simon Rofles, the managing director of Bayer Leverkusen, has been clear that their star player is not available for sale to any interested clubs.

Liverpool’s midfield rebuilding appears to be on track for this summer. Their interest in Palacios might have been considered alongside moves for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

The Reds are likely aware that Leverkusen would demand a significant profit on the £15 million they paid for Palacios, who joined the German club in 2020 from River Plate.

While it took him some time to adapt, the 24-year-old is now a crucial part of Xabi Alonso’s plans at Leverkusen. Liverpool’s interest in him may be something to monitor in future transfer windows.

Although Jurgen Klopp’s midfield appears to be in good shape for the start of this season with the signings of players like Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo, there may still be a need for long-term improvements.

Liverpool’s talent scouting and recruitment efforts have been impressive this summer, even if they missed out on some key targets.

Klopp’s team currently has seven points out of a possible nine in the Premier League and hopes for a successful season ahead.
