Liverpool have announced the signing of Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo in a loan transfer on deadline day to reinforce the midfield options at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal.
The Reds have lost the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to injuries early on this new campaign and there was pressure building on Klopp to dip into the market for a late-window signing.
According to a report from Goal, Liverpool have landed the signature of the Brazil international Arthur from Juventus on loan with an option to make the move permanent for €37.5 million next summer.
Melo’s arrival at Anfield provides Klopp with a much-needed fresh face to freshen the midfield department which had another potential injury scare in Jordan Henderson’s limping off last time around in the win over Newcastle United.
The skipper could be out for at least two weeks and his spell on the sidelines would come as yet another blow to the boss Klopp who now has another option in Arthur to turn out ahead of Saturday’s Merseyside derby.
